A Level Art and Design 3D Design at Wootton Upper School and Arts College
This course provides opportunities for developing practical employability skills needed in the 3D Design employment sector. The course consists of the following units:
Unit 1 - Visual Recording in Art and Design
Unit 2 - Materials, Techniques, and Processes in Art and Design
Unit 3 - Ideas and Concepts in Art and Design
Unit 4 - Communication through Art and Design
Unit 51 - 3D Computer Modelling
Unit 97 - Product Design A strong theme of this course will be to engage in project based learning linked to industrial techniques.
Good GCSE grades including a minimum of grade C in English, Mathematics and Science and a grade B in GCSE Graphics. Students who have not studied GCSE Graphics may be considered after a successful review of their portfolio of appropriate work.
A variety of assessment methods are available making this course suitable for students who have an academic background but also enjoy developing their practical skills. This course will seek to promote a realistic scenario for learners to work with and make maximum use of practical design and make activities.
Progression routes at the end of the course are very strong in leading towards a career or further education in the design sector. Due to the nature of the units studied, students have very good designing and practical skills. These skills can be put to use in a University Degree, apprenticeship or direct employment. Students in the past have gone into the fields of Animation, Architecture, Art and Design, Graphic Design, Illustration and Project Management.
