English Language at Colonel Frank Seeley School
At AS we want students to get ‘fired up’ about learning as they develop objective ways of exploring and understanding language. Students will learn how purpose, audience and context affect the way language is produced and received. The course aims to:
* Enable students to develop and apply their understanding of the concepts and methods appropriate for the analysis and study of language
* Provide opportunities for independent investigation work related to language in use
* Enable students to engage creatively and independently with a varied programme for the study of English from the past to the present day
* Develop students’ skills as producers and interpreters of language
Students wishing to study English Language need to achieve a Grade B in both English Language and Literature.
