Painting and Decorating:Level 3 Diploma at Suffolk New College

Course description

Develop your skills to help you advance in to work, learning in our modern workshops. Show off your skills and participate in both national and local competitions, such as Skill Build and the Suffolk Show. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of community projects outside the college to broaden your skills and experience. The study programme will also develop your personal, social and employability skills and you will receive up to the minute industry knowledge and advice on employability by visiting relevant exhibitions and construction sites. Talks from a wide range of local and national employers will ensure you understand the trade and find out the skills that they are looking for, but will always give you a good understanding of the various career opportunities and pathways.

All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or Maths or both will need to study an English or/and Maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.

Course content

You will learn to develop advanced painting and decorating techniques such as specialist decorative finishes, spraying and complex paper hanging. All teaching will take place in our fully equipped workshops and classrooms under guidance from qualified and experienced staff. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

 

Entry requirements

Level 2 Diploma in Painting & Decorating or those who have extensive and up to date industrial experience. GCSE English and Maths qualification grade D or grade 3, or equivalent.

Tuition Costs

Future opportunities

Students can work towards securing employment with the opportunity to continue studying under the apprenticeship scheme. Progress in their career with further training into job roles such as Technician, System Designer, Estimator, Project/Contracts Manager, Site/Workshop Supervisor/Manager, Chartered Engineer, Sales Engineer or Commercial Manager
