Product Design (Graphics/Resistant Materials) AS A2 at Northampton School for Girls

Course description

Design and Technology encourages the development of independent learning, creativity and innovation. There will be ample opportunity to design, make, test, evaluate and, where appropriate, modify quality products and solve real design problems. You will be expected to analyse design situations and identify challenging projects, at the same time as developing a sound grasp of industrial production processes.

Course content

What you will do·        You will learn all about different products, their purpose and how they are designed to meet people’s needs.·        You will work in either resistant materials or graphics to design and make a range of products.The theory covers material knowledge and understanding computer aided design.

Entry requirements

You can take a course in Product Design choosing to specialize in either Graphic Products or Resistant Materials. The skills you develop on your GCSE coursework will help you make the transition to the AS/A Level. As 40% of your AS/A is practical coursework most students find they have to make time out of the lessons to use the workshop. This offers the opportunity to develop independent learning skills in a supportive framework.
