Chemistry A Level at Imberhorne School

Course description

Chemistry is often referred to as the central science becauseit overlaps many other science areas. The course initiallydevelops skills introduced within GCSE science courses.Students then develop their ability to use different parts of a"chemist's toolkit" that have a wide variety of applications.Throughout the course an emphasis is placed on explainingand understanding things that happen either in the outsideworld or in a test tube!

Entry requirements

To study this subject you will need a minimum of five GCSE subjects at Grade A*‐C. You must have at least a BB GCSE Science grade plus at least B in GCSE Mathematics.

Future opportunities

Chemistry is a valuable A Level for entry into a wide range of careers. Most of our A Level chemistry students enter higher education. It is essential that students considering medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, chemical sciences and forensic science study chemistry, but many other degree courses view chemistry as a desirable subject.
