Air Defence Computing Career College Level 2 at Lincoln College

Course description

The Air & Defence Career College is a new concept in education offering real industry job opportunities and input by guest speakers, site visits and projects to start your career in the aerospace sector. The Air & Defence programme is designed around a full week at college, to include enrichment activities to include visits to RAF bases and timetabled periods of fitness in preparation for a role in the defence industry. This is a Level 2 qualification comprising core and specialist units which cover aspects of knowledge, understanding and competency necessary for employment within the IT sector. The qualification has been designed to prepare students for a future role as a Cyber Space Communications Engineer and for employment on advanced new aircraft platforms within the Royal Air Force.
The qualification will contain all or some of the following units: The Online World; Technology Systems; Spreadsheet Development; Database Development; Software Development; Website Development and Multi-Media Development. Successful completion of all elements of the Air & Defence course and meeting the current recruitment criteria of the RAF will facilitate fast-tracking into the Royal Air Force.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE’s (minimum Grade E). BTECs in Science or ICT related subjects will also be considered. You will also be required to pass a skills test as-well as be screened in Maths and English .You will also be required to pass a trade test as-well as a literacy and numeracy test.
You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).


Assessment is a combination of internally and externally assessed units.
