Applied Business at Joseph Swan Academy

Course description

Applied Business at AS/A2 Level is stimulating and challenging and allows students to obtain an insight into the business world.

Unit 1 Investigating People at Work
Some of the topics covered include types of ownership, aims and objectives, motivation and the recruitment process.

Unit 2 Investigating Business
Students must create a proposal for a new business. They must research the market, identify the necessary resources and prepare financial plans.

Unit 3 Investigating Marketing
Students must market a new chocolate product for Cadbury’s. They must create a suitable marketing mix to suit a target audience.

Unit 8 Business Development
This is a computerised examination in which students have to create a proposal suitable to convince a lender to invest in their business idea.

Unit 13 Organising an Event
Students must propose, plan, carry out and evaluate an event. This year our students organised a trading game for Year 5 students.

Unit 14 External Influences on Business
Students must focus on a particular business and analyse the legal, economic, environmental and technological factors that affect it.
