Business Studies Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Suffolk One

Course description

Business is an exciting and creative course that will allow you to consider all aspects of working in industry. It will give you an understanding exactly what happens in the world of business and will help you develop the skills and knowledge required to prepare you for working in areas of employment such as accounting, administration, customer service, finance, IT, personnel and sales.

Course content

Within this one year course, you will study different topic areas in Business which provides a broad understanding of the ways in which businesses function, the people who own and manage them, and the methods to attract and satisfy customers. The topics on this course include:

Learn how to prepare a business plan. This topic allows you to consider how you plan to start up a business and the research that you would need to undertake to be successful in its launch.

Effective Marketing looks at how a business communicates with its customers, and attracts them to buy the products and services that they have produced.

Learn how to work put profit and loss and prepare a cash flow forecast. This topic looks at the importance of finance in any business, how financial transactions are recorded and then used by the company to aid its decision-making.

Learn about the benefits of online business through undertaking a unit of study looking at how businesses have embraced changing technology to reach out to new customers via the internet.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's A* - E to include GCSE Maths and English at grade D.


100% coursework. There are no examinations on this course. You will provide a portfolio showing evidence of the six units you have studied; one of these assignments is externally set. You will be awarded a pass, merit or distinction grade at the end of the course.

Future opportunities

You will be able to progress onto Level three courses, such as A Level Business or related subjects such as Economics and Accountancy. You could also progress into employment or continue with vocational studies in Further Education.
