Catering (Food Preparation and Cooking) at King Edward VII

Course description

Course content

The course is taught by a chef in a catering kitchen as Castle College.

The course consists of 10 separate units. Five of these units are mandatory - that means you have to do them. They are all related to the working environment in the kitchen - safety, hygiene, the correct use of equipment and working with others etc.

The remaining 5 units are all based on the preparation and cooking of a wide range of different dishes, to include meat, fish and vegetarian alternatives, fruits, vegetables, bread products, cakes and pastries. You will be expected to handle all of these foods.

Entry requirements



AssessmentWill include an element of work in a realistic working environment or workplace. If you take this course you will be expected to wear a catering uniform in all lessons. This will be provided for you.
