Hairdressing NVQ Level 1 at Sandwell College

Course description

This one-year course is designed for anyone who wants to develop their interest in hairdressing.

Course content

Training will take place in our state-of-the-art salons. A variety of units will give you a broad introduction to hairdressing and a grounding in the practical skills needed by hairdressing professionals. All learners are allocated to a personal tutor who will set targets, track progress and offer support throughout the course.

Entry requirements

English at Entry Level 3 standard. You will also need to attend an interview and assessment prior to being accepted on the course.

Assessment

All practical work is assessed in our professional training salons; you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence including photography of your work, written projects and online quizzes.

Future opportunities

Progression from this course would be to Hairdressing NVQ, Level 2, dependent on ability. You could also start a hairdressing apprenticeship or seek employment as a junior/assistant stylist in the hairdressing industry.
