Course description

Medical Administration and IT Diploma is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in office, secretarial or administration work within the NHS or a healthcare setting. The course combines practical activities with underpinning knowledge and understanding of the way in which a modern office works and of the various support services it provides.

Course content

Diploma in Medical Administration Level 2 (City and Guilds/Amspar).  This includes a number of modules including Medical Terminology, Medical Administration, Communications and Working in the NHS.
IT including email, database, PowerPoint and spreadsheets
Text and Word processing
There is a 1 week period of work placement

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English. Level 1 qualifications, such as BTEC at merit or distinction. Good standard of secondary education with previous Administration experience.

Assessment

The course is assessed in a variety of ways including internally marked assessments and examinations.  A variety of teaching methods are used including practical “hands on” teaching with the use of computers.

Future opportunities

Students will be able to progress directly into employment within the NHS or healthcare.  Alternatively you can progress onto Business Administration Level 3 or the Advanced Diploma for Medical Secretaries.
