Health & Fitness NVQ Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

If you would like a career in the fitness industry as a fitness instructor or personal trainer, these courses will give you all you need to achieve your goals.

There are several qualifications included giving you a comprehensive CV to show prospective employers and client

Course content

The subjects studied include:

  • Planning exercise and fitness sessions

  • Instructing exercise and fitness

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Principles of training

  • Maintaining facilities

  • Health screening

  • Motivating and supporting clients

  • Models of behaviour change

  • Management

  • Nutrition

  • First Aid

You will be involved in the running of our state of the art gym as a supervisor and motivator and will plan sessions and advise members accordingly.  You will be expected to ensure that the gym is working effectively and safely.

As you progress you may be involved in running your own circuit and exercise sessions.

Level 2 students will also be required to study Functional Skills English and Maths.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE’s grade C and above (or equivalent) for both courses.


Financial information

You will be required to purchase a Fareham College sports kit to wear for practical sport activities.

Students who are working in the gym will also need to purchase a gym polo shirt.

You may also incur extra fees/additional costs for residential trips.
