Furniture (Making and Installing Furniture) Apprenticeship Level 2 at Warwickshire College Group
This programme is for those working in or new entrants to the Furniture and Cabinet Making/ Installation industry, it will provide them with formal qualifications in Making and Installing furniture and provide them with basic skills in Cabinet Making and Technical Drawing.
Part of the programme will be studied at college on a day release basis and part will be completed by collecting evidence in a portfolio and being assessed in the work place.
Hence, the fact that the candidate will need to have employment in the right sector, i.e. furniture making, kitchen/ cabinet fitting, furniture installation.
Work or competence based part of the Apprenticeship
Mandatory and optional units covering:
Making furniture assemblies
Working with veneers
Attaching fittings and applying finishing processes to production furniture
Working with handcrafted furniture
Knowledge (College) Based - Technical Certificate
Health and Safety Training – safe working practices
Traditional and Modern Cabinet Making: Joints, Construction and Fittings
Materials Technology: Timber and Timber Based Materials
Introduction to Technical Drawing For the purposes of completing an apprenticeship you will be in full employment within the chosen industry.

- Maths Level 1
- ICT Level 1
Must be working or seeking to work in the Furniture Making/ Installation industry, carrying out furniture construction and wood machining duties.
Flexible on-site assessments to blend theory and work based learning
Technical Certificate and Key Skills at College
Method of Assessment:
Job records/ evidence portfolio
Work as a wood machinist, furniture maker or fitted furniture installer.
Level 3 Furniture qualifications such as level 3 Apprenticeship in Making and Installing Furniture.
