Beauty Therapy Level 1 Diploma at Harrow College

Course description

Introduction to the beauty sector, how to present a professional image in a salon, basic manicure, basic pedicure, salon reception, skin care, art of photographic make up, face painting, basic make up, and nail art. Students would also need to take part in an assisting role in the salon and work with other levels of learners in this curriculum area.

Course content

This course is divided into units and delivered in theory and practical sessions. You may also study English and Maths alongside this qualification to help improve your employability opportunities.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs grades D-F and have a genuine interest in the Beauty industry., Beauty experience would be an advantage. Candidates should have good communication skills and be able to work with others. They would also need to have a calm and professional approach as they would be working with clients and will be assessed on their skills and knowledge in beauty therapy., Candidates need to complete a Profiler Assessment test in English and Maths and a written and practical assessment.

Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the course on both practical and theory; you will be assessed on assignments, tests, work packs and oral questions. You will build a portfolio of evidence that is internally and externally verified.

Future opportunities

Successful candidates will be able to progress onto Level 2 Beauty Therapy or to further learning and training to develop their knowledge and skills of the Beauty Therapy Industry.

Further information

Level 1 Beauty Therapy kit, textbook, a uniform and students will need to purchase a pair of enclosed low heeled black shoes. All equipment and uniforms are purchased through the college to ensure conformity with the Health and Safety Acts. Order forms will be given at enrolment or before.

Costs of visits and exhibitions, approximately £20.
