Mathematics A Level at John F Kennedy Catholic School
Mathematics is a popular subject for A-level students. We follow the Edexcel specification. This course is new from September 2017 and all students will study mechanics and statistics as well as core maths. This is delivered in nine one hour lessons per fortnight; 6 core and 3 applied. Students will also be taught to analyse data from a large data set using spreadsheets and statistical tools on calculators.
Students are assessed in three final exams at the end of year 13. Further maths is also offered for a number of gifted mathematicians.
Mathematics is an well regarded qualification and is essential for many different university courses. Some examples of the courses followed by recent alumni are: engineering, economics, accountancy, mathematics, physics, medicine, natural sciences, actuarial science and forensic science
