Connects Pathways Entry Level 2 at New College Nottingham
If you are looking to build your personal and social skills as well as get to grips with the basics in literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, this course
could be great for you.
The Connects Pathways are designed for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and with this in mind, the class sizes are kept small to ensure you receive the time and support to grow in self-confidence and independence.
In a supported, relaxed environment you will be encouraged to achieve at your own pace with ncn’s friendly teaching staff on hand to offer help and guidance along the way.
This varied course gives you a taste of a number of different subject areas, enabling you to discover and experience new things - from art and cooking to sport and drama – there is something for everyone.
Based mainly at ncn City and ncn Bath Street, we have well-equipped libraries and IT facilities, access to vocational studies and two multi-purpose vehicles which we use for training to promote independent travel. We also have ramps, lifts and induction loops installed at all our major campuses.
During the course you will cover a range of different topics, all aimed at improving your confidence, assertiveness, independence and well-being, gaining practical skills that you can apply to your everyday life.
You will learn community skills; healthy living, including shopping, cooking and exercise; work awareness; personal safety; and making choices and personal decisions.
You will also learn new skills and gain experience of working collaboratively with others, using different technology, and managing your money and other personal resources effectively.
Our friendly, dedicated teaching staff aim to make your College experience a fun one. Their job is to support and guide you on your learning journey, ensuring you reach your full potential and are made aware of the many progression routes available to you.
You don't need any formal qualifications, but you will meet with a tutor and complete a short assessment to ensure you start on the right course for you.
Assessment is continual through coursework folders and Functional Skills assessments.
Through course reviews students will have the opportunity to progress within the Connect Pathways or to other Entry and Enterprise courses including opportunities for work experience and links to voluntary and charitable organisations. Internal advice and guidance is available for further training opportunities.
