IT, Software, Web, Telecom Professional Intermediate Apprenticeships - Level 2 at John Ruskin College

Course description

IT & Web Design Professional apprenticeships cover a broad range of subjects. The sort of employment that the apprentice will be looking to move into could be as a Web designer/developer or general programmer, IT Support, Network Support or Help Desk adviser. All these job roles require technical expertise as well as good people skills. All of these skills can be developed by the apprentice on the programme.

Course content

There are a wide range of units that can be selected to suit your specific job role, these can include:

  • Providing support and assistance to colleagues to make effective use of available IT systems and software
  • Developing, testing and implementing solutions to improve workplace productivity through the use of IT
  • Maintaining and designing simple websites.

Entry requirements

You need 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including Maths and English. You will need to be in full time employment.

Assessment

You will have a dedicated Trainer/Assessor who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace at least every 8 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

Financial information

If you are aged 16 to 18 when you start your Apprenticeship Programme, there is no charge to you or your employer as this is fully funded by the government.

Other costs would include the purchase of text books.

Future opportunities

When you have achieved your Intermediate Apprenticeship framework you may be able to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)
