GCSE Geography at Ruskin - The Priory Academy

Course description

What will my child be learning and when?

The course is split into 3 units. Unit A731 looks at the process that occur in hot deserts and mountain regions, the similarities between Grantham and a non UK location. The unit also looks at the impact of the production and consumption of a product and a service. Unit A732 teaches a variety of Geographical skills based around the interpretation of Ordnance Survey maps. Unit A733 involves the investigation of issues surrounding retail areas, settlements and land use.


Year 10

In year 10 students focus on unit A731. Some skills for Unit A732 are taught in Year 10.


Year 11

In year 11 students focus on completing Unit A733 in the form of a controlled assessment. Pupils usually collect data during a 3 day residential field trip to Norwich. Pupils also learn more of the skills needed for the A732 examination.

All examinations take place in Year 11.
