Computing at Clyst Vale Community College

Course description

Do you have the patience to work at a problem untilyou can solve it? Are curious about what’s going on in your computer? Do you use your computer at home for more than justsurfing the net?
The course is designed to appeal to students who are simply curious about the inner workings andapplications of computers, as well as to those studentswho wish to pursue a career in Computing.

Year 12 study will include:
Unit F451: Computer Fundamentals

  • Hardware Software
  • Data: its presentation, structure and management
  • Data transmission and networking

    Unit F452: Programming Techniques and Logical Methods

  • Designing solutions to problems
  • The structure of procedural programs
  • Data types and data structures

  • Entry requirements

    Grade C or above in Maths and English. A grade C or above in a level 2 ICT course is desirable as is the ability to work in an organised manner and complete independent study.
