Theatre Studies at Townley Grammar School
A love of theatre and willingness to visit live productions regularly. You must enjoy working as part of a team and under your own initiative. The ability to communicate ideas effectively both verbally and in written form is essential. You should be willing to take risks and use your creativity.
Learners will research and practically explore practitioners and the work of others (40% of A Level)
Learners will explore one performance text (20% of A Level)
Learners will explore practically two performance texts on a chosen theme and will analyse and evaluate a live theatre performance (20% of A Level)
Learners will interpret and explore practically a performance text considering how to create, develop and direct a performance for an audience. (20% of A Level)
B in GCSE Drama
A student must have achieved both of the following:
- A minimum of 7 full course A* - C grade GCSEs including English and Maths
- An average (mean) point score of 45 or above taking only full course GCSEs into consideration
Arts Management, Acting, Law, Performance Arts, Community Theatre, Arts Administration, Stage Management, Musical Theatre, Teaching.
University requirements are varied depending on the course selected, however, examples are:
Bristol University: BA (Hons) Acting 280 UCAS points
Surrey University: BA (Hons) Musical Theatre B B B
Central School of Speech & Drama: BA (Hons) Acting 160 UCAS points
De Montford University: BA (Hons) Arts & Festival Management 160 points
Most universities or drama schools will also require an audition for entry.
