AS/A2 Levels: French at Hind Leys College (Iveshead School)
Students will build upon vocabulary and grammar learnt at GCSE to gradually become more independent and therefore more fluent in French.
Students will learn about lots of aspects of daily life in France and other Francophone countries, such as music, cinema, architecture, gastronomy and current affairs. As confidence increases, there will also be the opportunity to study French films and literature in more depth. Any modern language gives an excellent opportunity to become fluent in a language which will in turn lead to greater career opportunities in a wide range of fields.
Minimum of grade 4 in English and grade 5 in Maths and 3 other A*-C GCSEs including grade B in French.
A combination of Reading, Listening and Speaking, and written exams.
You could take this course with other advanced level course or equivalent to prepare for higher education in French, Languages or more general higher education courses.
With further training, you could go into obvious jobs related to French or Languages such as a Teacher, Translator, or you may wish to use your French to study or work in France. More important, you will gain skills which will allow you to learn other languages and can open doors for job opportunities in careers as diverse as: Law, Accountancy, Medicine, ICT, Engineering, Product Design, Politics, Economics, Science and Media.
The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the travel and tourism sector.
