Art & Design BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This is a 1 year full time course which could lead to careers such as; Animator, Graphic Designer, Fine Artist, Illustrator or Fashion Photographer. With a broad range of techniques, materials and subject matter, studying on the Level 3 art and design course offers an opportunity to let your artistic ability evolve and develop into different areas, from 3D Visual Communication and Digital Artwork to Textiles, Fashion and Ceramics. With a succession of assignments, this course provides an invaluable introduction into new ideas, disciplines and methods of expression. The course will consist of Visual recording, Materials techniques and processes, Ideas and concepts, Visual communication, Contextual influences. Maths and English will be at the core of your study programme. 

Entry requirements

L2 Art at Merit Grade or above or 5 GCSEs A*-C including English at C or above. All places are subject to interview and the applicant bringing a portfolio produced to an appropriate standard. Applicants subject to ind/prob period

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 3 qualification e.g. 4 or more AS Levels or 2 A Levels. Advanced Learning Loans are available for further education courses at Level 3, 4 & 5. They operate like higher education loans with deferred payments until you earn over approximately £21, 000 per year. (Information available at -learning-loans/overview) You have the option of taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan with the college that best suits your needs.

Future opportunities

“If you are 18 and over upon successful completion of the 90 credit diploma at D*D you will have enough UCAS points to progress on to the HNC/HND at Lakes College. If you achieve a MM grade on the 90 credit and have benchmark attendance and punctuality you can top up to a full Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design, Graphics or Photography. Successful completion of the two year course at a minimum of MMM will earn the points needed to progress onto Lakes College HNC/D Fine Art or Photography, University or Employment.”
