Course description

Are you looking for a varied and rewarding career in construction? Have you thought about becoming a Plumber or Heating Engineer? Are you hard-working, organised and self-motivated? If this sounds like you then our Diploma in Plumbing & Heating could be your ideal course.

From installing heating systems and servicing boilers to laying underground drainage pipes, this is a highly skilled and varied field. With our Diploma in Plumbing, Level 2, you will learn all about maintenance, repair and installation, and gain the skills and knowledge you need to move on to a higher level course. There’s more to it than fixing a dripping tap! 

Our course balances theory with some great hands-on experience. You will learn about the installation of domestic heating and rainwater systems, bathroom suites, immersion heaters, hot water cylinders and cold-water cisterns. You will also learn how to install and maintain a variety of taps, radiator valves and central heating controls. By the end of the course, you will understand a range of faultfinding and repair techniques, and be aware of safe working practices in the building studies environment. You will also have the opportunity to take additional units in sheet lead weathering.

Entry requirements

You will possess a reasonable standard of secondary education, including a minimum grade D in maths and English. You should have a desire to enter the plumbing trade. You will be assessed for basic construction skills and will also be interviewed.


Assessment will be through a combination of practical and knowledge tests

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will allow you to continue on to our Diploma in Plumbing and Heating Level 3.

      Make time for a milky latte and visit our Starbucks counter in The View. We have the only one in Worcester City Centre! So come sit back, warm up and relax with a cappuccino, or even grab a berry frappe to go!


      Our nurseries provide a happy, secure and stimulating place where learning through play is purposeful and fun! Our bright and spacious nurseries offer a wide range of flexible childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years old. The nurseries are recognised as 'outstanding' by Ofsted who also praised the training received by staff, and the atmosphere that the children enjoy.

      St Dunstan's is a state-of-the-art building dedicated to our creative arts and hair and beauty provision in Worcester. Short-listed for the prestigious AJ Retrofit Awards, this modern building is home to our hair and beauty salon, art and design studios and coffee shop making it the perfect place for students to explore their creative side. Our hair and beauty salon, Fountains is open to members of the public.
