AS/A2 Politics & Government at Trinity Sixth Form Consortium

Course description

The course studies all aspects of political science, from voter behaviour, party structures to political ideologies and how  they affect contemporary politics.

Course content

In Y12 two units are taught:


Politics and participation.

E.G voter behaviour / Electoral systems /pressure groups 

Governing modern Britain.

E.G The British constitution

The Judiciary

role and function of parliament


In Y13

I intend to focus on political philosophy / ideology.



Political thought it's history and impact on contemporary thought.


We may also do a comparative study of another system of government for example the USA.

Entry requirements

Grade C pass or above in English at GCSE


End of unit exams 50% AS 50% A2

Future opportunities

Further study of politics goes well with any humanities degree (history, geography, sociology, philosophy) would be of benefit to those wishing to study law or enter public service.
