AS YEAR 12The units covered are:UNIT G481 – Mechanics – Including topics on motion, forces in action, and work and energyUNIT G482 – Electrons, waves and photons – including topics on electric current, resistance, DCcircuits, waves and quantum physics UNIT G483 – Practical skills in Physics 1 – The AS practical skills unit is teacher assessed and externally moderated by OCR. Candidates are assessed on one task from each of the followingcategories: qualitative, quantitative, and evaluativeA2 YEAR 13The units covered are:UNIT G484 – The Newtonian world – including Newton’s laws and momentum, circular motionand oscillations, and thermal physics UNIT G485 – Fields, particles and frontiers of Physics – including electric and magnetic fields capacitors and exponential decay, nuclear physics, medical imaging, and modeling the universeUNIT G486 – Practical skills in Physics 2 – The A2 practical skills unit is teacher assessed and externally moderated by OCR. Entry requirements

To study Physics at AS or A2 it is recommended that you have completed the GCSE Triple Award Science course and have achieved a minimum of Grade B in Physics and 1 other from either Biologyor Chemistry. It is also recommended that you have achieved at least a B grade in Mathematics.
