The study of Modern Languages develops confident, clear and effective communication through both the spoken and written word. It develops critical insights into, and contact with, the contemporary society and cultural background where the language is spoken. Students are prepared for all aspects of the examination through the study of a variety of topics and themes which are explored by all four skills - listening, reading, speaking and writing.

Minimum grade B at GCSE.
Listening, reading, speaking and writing skills will be assessed at both levels.
The A level course provides a sufficient basis for the further study of the language at degree level or equivalent, either as a single subject or as a combined course with subjects such as Business, Law, Media, Journalism, etc. A language at A level provides a satisfying and worthwhile course of study for students and is a useful and valid academic qualification for a wide range of professional occupations.
