BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Art and Design at North Shropshire College - NSC

Course description

Learners will explore a wide range of materials, techniques and processes to enhance skills in creative art and design by learning and using specialist techniques. This gives a solid grounding and prepares learners for a future in art and design. There are also opportunities to look at the history of art and design and be inspired by visits to well-known galleries and museums. 

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?

The course is made up of core, mandatory and optional units which explore a variety of specialisms within art and design. Is it a practical based course with scenario based assignments that incorporate the range of skills and learning experiences outlined in the units.

 

Learners are also required to study Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths qualifications, if they do not already hold a minimum GCSE grade C.

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

This course will include tutor-led demonstrations, presentations and regular tutorials to support your studies. Course enrichment activities can include visits to galleries and museums and working on live projects and competitions.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

It is essential that learners come equipped with basic studio equipment such as pencils, pens, eraser, glue stick, paintbrushes, ruler, memory card and a sketchbook (these can be bought directly from college).

Entry requirements

You will need five appropriate GCSE’s at Grade E and above to study on the course or a BTEC Introductory diploma with a merit. Acceptance on this course is subject to a successful interview with a subject specialist member of staff.
