Photography AS/A2 at Sir Frederic Osborn School

Course description

A Level Photography is an Art based subject which
encourages students to develop practical photographic skills
using manual and digital cameras and traditional black and white printing.

The course also places emphasis on developing students’ skills in
image analysis and critical theory.
Working through two units in each year, you will learn how
to compose images using rules of formal construction, apply a
personal theme through the study of visual communication, solve
problems and take influence from the analysis of photographic
images.
Students are assessed through sketchbooks, timed practical sessions
and a personal study essay.
Holding an Art GCSE A*-C is recommended. However, you do
not need to know how to use a camera or darkroom before you
begin the course. There is no cost attached to this course if it is
studied at Onlow St Audrey’s School, however there is a £100
material cost if it is studied at Oaklands College.
