Course description

This is a work related qualification which provides an opportunity to discover an insight to the fundamental principles of the world of business. The course is delivered by staff with industry experience, in the classroom and study centres, where learners research organisations. In addition; visits, speakers and practical activities help to simulate real life business environments.

Coursework assessments are scheduled throughout the year. While there are no exams students have to work diligently to acquire the high grades needed for university.

Typically successful students are punctual with good attendance, polite with a genuine interest in business organisations. They will have good communication, numeracy and IT skills and be self-motivated. Business experience whilst not essential can be helpful.

By the end of the course learners will have developed an ability to work on their own initiative, research, time management and organisational skills. In addition to guest speakers, a major plus of this course is the chance to set up and run a small business, which develops many of the skills required in employment or self - employment, for example team working, customer service, finance and marketing. This opportunity brings the business theory to life and is very empowering for learners.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at A – C including English and Maths or a Merit at Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Business or related subject.Interview Required: Yes
