Motor Vehicle - Study Programme at LifeSkills

Course description

Study Programmes are designed to help you progress into Employment with training, an Apprenticeship or further training.


Do you like working on cars? Want to learn how they work and how to fix them? Whether it’s for a career or just an interest the Motor Vehicle course could be just the thing for you. You will learn about the different types of vehicles, and learn basic mechanics plus a core learning of English and Maths as well as Employability Skills and Personal Development. All aimed at helping get you the confidence and qualifications you need to progress onto the next stage of your chosen career.


To apply you must be 16-18 years old have bags of drive and enthusiasm coupled with a serious interest in cars - there are limited places available so you have to really want it. If successful you will work towards either a Level 1 Vehicle Systems and Maintenance or a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles Qualification.
Some of the things you will cover are: Vehicle Transmission Systems, Steering & Suspension, Vehicle Engine Cooling, Vehicle Fuel & Exhaust, Vehicle Spark Ignition System, Vehicle Wheels & Tyres, Vehicle Body and Interior Cleaning.

      LifeSkills offers a number of Study Programmes, Traineeships and Apprenticeships from its two centres in Rotherham, Enterprise House on Bridge Street (oppsite the train station) and motor vehicle unit( just 5 minutes walk away) on Northfield Industrial estate, as well as working in partnership with Coldewll boxing.
       
      You can enrol onto a Study Programme in Customer Service, Nail and Beauty, Motor Vehicle or Sport where as well as your chosen vocation you will also continue to study maths and English and develop your employability, all vital in helping you succeed and Learn a Living.
       
      Traineeships are an ideal stepping stone onto an Apprenticeship or employment. When on a Traineeship you will attend our Enterprise House centre on Bridge Street for one or two days per week to develop your maths, English and employability as well gaining vital skills with an employer.
       
      Apprentices are employer based but may need to attend the centre for workshops and tests, depending on individual needs and circumstance.
