BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Information Technology (Level 3) at St Peter's Catholic School

Course description

This qualification equips you with a broad understanding of some of the key IT skills and knowledge required to progress in a variety of IT careers.

IT has primarily been developed to:

  • give education and training for IT employees
  • give IT employees opportunities to achieve a nationally recognised level 3 vocationally-specific qualification
  • give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the IT sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Computing and Systems Development
  • give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. The course is designed to be adaptable to your needs and consists of 2 compulsory core units plus 3 specialist units.

    2 Computer Systems

    39 Web Animation for Interactive Media
    40 Computer Game Design
    41 3D Modelling
    43 Multimedia Design

    Entry requirements

    It is expected you would have a minimum of 4 A*- C grades in full GCSEs, ideally including English and Maths as this is an A Level equivalent course. GCSE ICT or an equivalent qualification would be an advantage but is not a necessity.
