Sport (Football Academy) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at West Cheshire College
Following successful completion of the Extended Diploma in Sport at Level 3 you can progress on to the Foundation Degree in Fitness and Health at the College.
This course is designed to develop your understanding of the principles of coaching, fitness testing, ethics and values in sport, nutritional guidance, the body in sport, working with children and practical sport. You will develop occupational skills such as teamwork, effective communication and problem solving. An important element of the course is keeping up your own fitness levels through participation in various sports and learning about fitness testing and developing training programmes for clients. Students typically progress into employment in their chosen field or go on to university. On the first year of the course you will be enrolled on the BTEC Fast-track Diploma and upon successful completion you may be able to progress to the second year of the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sports and Leisure.
As a football academy student, you will follow the BTEC Sport Level 3 qualification whilst undertaking regular training and taking part in football matches. Your course will comprise 10 hours of football per week with coaching sessions delivered by UEFA A-licence Coaches.
Areas you will learn include: coaching, fitness testing, ethics and values in sport, nutritional guidance, the body in sport, working with children and practical sport.
Four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths or Science (and preferably Sport) or successful completion of a Level 2 programme, such as the Sport and Leisure Diploma with Level 2 English and maths. You need to be under the age of 19 years at the start of this course.
You can progress on to any other relevant Level 2 programmes in this area.
