Sport and Exercise Science Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 at Lincoln College

Course description

If you want to pursue a career in sport then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to aid your progression in to Sport, Physical Activity and Health-related careers. This programme is designed for those with an interest in: PE teaching, athlete development, professional sport, sports coaching, health and lifestyle management, personal training, sports nutrition, sports injury rehabilitation.
Successful completion of this programme provides you with the opportunity for progression into Higher Education, preparing you for employment.
During the course of this programme, you will explore both theoretical and practical subjects and you will study the following topics: Anatomy for Sport and Exercise, Research Methods for Sport and Exercise, Sport and Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Sports Coaching.


Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs including English Language, Maths, Science and ideally PE (minimum grade C) with a B grade in a subject linked to your chosen AS levels. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report) along with evidence of specific and sustained interest and motivation in sport; and an ability to cope with a programme of physical activity.


Assessment is through a combination of coursework, practical assessments and examination on the AS level subjects.
