Information and Communication Technology GCSE at Christ The King College
The WJEC Information Communication Technology GCSE qualification will recognise students' skills, knowledge and understanding of Information and Communication Technology functions, environments and operations.
This course offers a unique opportunity in the curriculum for candidates to identify and solve real problems by designing information and communication systems in a wide range of contexts relating to their personal interests. Information and Communication Technology develops candidates' interdisciplinary skills and their capacity for imaginative, innovative thinking, creativity and independence.
This GCSE course is split into four units of work, two coursework units and two exam units:
Unit 1 and Unit 3 are assessed by written examination (1 ½ hours). Units 2 and 4 are completed in the classroom in “Controlled Assessment” conditions. The two coursework units are centre assessed and externally moderated by WJEC. The full award and units from this qualification are graded as GCSE A*-G.
This qualification prepares students to follow any chosen ICT pathway through A Level or Higher Diploma and on to College, University and/or the Workplace.
