Course content

Year 1

Certificate 
Health and Safety in the Engineering workplace 
Engineering Drawing for Technicians 
Fabrication Processes and Technology

Year 2

Subsidiary Diploma 
Electrical and Electronic Principles (Subsidiary Diploma only) 
Engineering Secondary and Finishing Techniques (Subsidiary Diploma only) 
Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials (Subsidiary Diploma only) 
(Enrichment option to complete 90 credit Diploma)

 

Entry requirements

Either BTEC Engineering 
Level 2 – Merit or GCSE 
Mathematics – B grade

Assessment

All Units internally assessed.

Future opportunities

Progression

The BTEC National Certificate or Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering offers progression opportunities in and to employment within the manufacturing engineering sector and related industries. The qualification will also provide access to BTEC Higher National courses in Engineering.

Careers

Computer designing (CAD); mechanical and electrical/electronics engineering; product design in aerospace and the car industry; civil engineering; chemical engineering.
