Uniformed Public Services - Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at HARTPURY COLLEGE

Course description

If you are interested in pursuing a career in the Uniformed Public Services; such as Police, Fire and Rescue; Ambulance; Prison Service; HM Revenue and Customs or one of the Armed Forces; Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force, then this Diploma provides you with the opportunity to gain a realistic understanding of the features of each service and the expectations they have of serving members of the public.

You will be able to look at all of the different services with the opportunity to investigate your particular choice of service

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be

  • English Language together with either Mathematics or Science.

There is a cost of £50 towards the cost of trips and any additional qualifications that we do e.g. Canoe 1*

Due to the practical and physical nature of this course you are strongly encouraged to consider whether it is right for you.

Financial information

Students under 19 on 31 August 2015 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free.

Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees.  We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification.

Students aged 24 and over.  You may need to pay for your course.

Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration

Future opportunities

If you successfully complete this course, you can top up this qualification to an Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services by completing a further year.

Opportunities exist  to progress to university through Foundation degrees (subject to entry requirements).

Further information

The range of opportunities following the course is broad and we aim to give you the opportunity to gain the qualifications and skills, to begin a career in public services. Other opportunities can include; PCSO (Police Community Support Officer); Special Constable; Reserve forces or perhaps become a member of support staff or a control room operator.
