Law AS/A2 Level at Chichester High School for Boys

Course description

Learn about the legal processes and institutions within theUK; the concepts of criminal liability; the law on non-fataloffences against the person including grievous bodily harmand the basics of contract law. Develop your understandingwith visiting speakers, such as local magistrates and visits tothe local courts.

Develop your understanding of the Criminal Law by studyingoffences against the person and offences against propertyincluding murder,manslaughter, theft and robbery. Considerthe defences available such as loss of control, intoxicationand duress. Investigate the links between law and moralityand the importance of fault and justice in the law. Enhanceyour learning with visits to local/national courts.

AS Unit 1:Law Making and the Legal System

AS Unit  2:The Concept of liability

A2 Unit  3: Criminal Law (Offences against the Person)

A2 Unit  4: Criminal Law (Offences against Property) andConcepts of Law


Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in English.


Exam on each unit.
