Spanish A Level at Lymm High Voluntary Controlled School

Course description

AS/A2 Spanish is taught with a very high rate of success. Students at AS begin to discuss topics of real interest such as the media, every day culture, healthy living, personal relationships presented through various media, videos, newspapers, and the internet. The A2 course represents a very advanced level of linguistic proficiency. Students will be able to discuss topical and sophisticated aspects of life, such as: - the environment, crime, technology and racism. Students will develop new skills; translating, researching, planning and presentation of assignments.

Also cultural topics in relation to modern Spanish history and literature is an important part of the course. The use of the interactive programme Kerboodle from Nelson Thornes is an excellent resource that we offer to support students both in their lessons and in their independent study. Regular weekly contact with the foreign language assistant is also provided.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at A*- C You must achieve a minimum of a B at GCSE Spanish and you must have sat the higher paper for both listening and reading


AS (35%), A2 ( 65%) -

Unit 1: Listening & Reading comprehension and writing exam.

- Unit 2: Speaking exam

- Unit 3: Listening & Reading comprehension and writing exam.

- Unit 4: Speaking exam
