Statistics AS and A2 Level at Boston College

Course description

Statistics is a very useful subject to combine with such subjects as science, psychology and economics. You will study topics such as: sampling, probability, data collection, binomial/poisson distributions, normal distribution, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression, non-parametric testing, interpretation of data and time series.

Course content

This is a modular course consisting of six modules. Students who are successful at completing the first three modules may be awarded an AS level qualification. On successful completion of all six modules a full A level qualification will be awarded. 

The first three modules, will include the following topics: 

  • Sampling 
  • Probability 
  • Data collection 
  • Binomial/poisson distributions 
  • Normal distribution 
  • Hypothesis testing 
  • Correlation & regression 
  • Non-parametric testing 
  • Time series 
  • Interpretation of data

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grades C or above (New GCSE grade - 5 and above) including Maths at grade B or above (New GCSE grade - 6 or above) or equivalent.
