Graphics, Resistant Materials at Carlton le Willows Academy

Course description

We are confident that we will continue with the success that we have had over the past years. We consistently gain very good grades, and hence university points, for the large majority of the candidates who take the AS and A2 courses.

If you are likely to gain at least a B grade then we will welcome you on the course.

All GCSE courses in DT prepare you for any of the AS courses that you may want to do because you learn the principles of design at GCSE which are the same principles at AS. There is a body of subject knowledge that you have to learn and will be examined on but this is dealt with by recapping over the key GCSE points before we tackle the AS subject matter.

We are looking for students who have the following characteristics:

Ability to identify good design and appreciate quality products when they purchase.

Curiosity and want to understand how things work and are made.

Good observational skills, notice changes and question why.

Ability to express themselves verbally and with sound literacy skills.

Creativity and ability to think of a variety of solutions to any problem.

Ability to work independently
