The course consists of three units to be completed in Year 12, from which you can be awarded the certificate qualification. If you continue to study the course in Year 13, completing six units in total, you will be awarded Subsidiary Diploma.
The course covers Music Technology in both recording studio production and live sound.
- Music Production Techniques.
- Delivering a Music Product
- Live Sound Techniques.
Students should have achieved a grade C in English and it would be an advantage to have some musical background. Although desirable, it is not essential to have studied music at Key Stage 4.
The course is 100% coursework based, with evidence being collated through essays, research, practical work and recorded evidence.
All resources for the course are provided. Access to a computer at home or at school in order to word process work/notes is essential.
The course provides a route into further education in music. Past pupils have gone on to study at universities and music colleges and conservatoires. Work and experience is acquired by using industry standard equipment (ProTools), so can lead to employment in the music industry.
