Plumbing Studies - Diploma Level 2 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

If you are thinking about a career in the Plumbing Industry, then why not try your hand at a variety of different construction and building tasks with this basic construction skills qualification. These include Plumbing and Electrical tasks and get a feel for whether a career in Construction is right for you.

Course content

The course will include theory and practical sessions in:- Health & Safety within Building Services Engineering Electrical Principles and Processes for Building Services Engineering Scientific Principles for Plumbing Common Plumbing Processes Cold Water Systems Domestic Hot Water Systems Sanitation Central Heating Systems Drainage Systems You will also understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering As part of your study programme additional short courses will be included that enhances your skills, knowledge and employability prospects.

Entry requirements

Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing or 19+ to have plumbing experience or at least 4 A* to C grades at GCSE including Maths, English Language & Science. Minimum of L1 initial assessment for Maths and English. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."


You will learn and be assessed by a mixture of practical activities and online multiple-choice tests.

Future opportunities

Students can progress onto the following qualification. The City and Guilds in Plumbing is the first step towards your career as a Plumber. This can lead to further study with the Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing. If a work placement is gained you can be transferred onto the City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating.
