ICT is part of the core curriculum and is studied by all pupils.
Digital media now play an increasingly important part in our everyday lives and in the world of work. With the Certificiation in Digital Applications (CIDA) you will build on the work completed in Year 9 by completing a second project. This will then provide a final qualification at the end of Year 11 equivalent to 2 GCSEs at grade C or above.
Most of us are consumers of this media in one way or another. We use mobile phones and send texts. We browse websites, download music files and send e-mails. We take digial photos, listen to CDs, play computer games and may even keep an electronic diary.
For an increasing number of people, producing digial application is the way they make a living. People serve whole industries by using their skills and expertise in this growing sector.
You will study a range of topics including:Website Design
- Digital Technology
- Database Design
- Multimedia Applications
You will produce all your work using ICT applications and your final project is presented in an e-book. You will design this e-book using website design software.
There is no written external examination within this subject. Your final grade will be awarded based on the quality of the e-portfolio you produce during the course
The Award in Digital Applications will give you a solid grounding enabling you to go on to further study in ICT at post-16 level
