Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 at Holy Family Catholic High School
If you are passionate about the Arts and love to perform then BTEC Performing Arts could be the course for you. You may choose to study Performing Arts for many different reasons, whether it is as a prospective career or simply because you enjoy fusing creativity and performance. Do you want to develop your skills in Music and Drama? The Performing Arts course at Holy Family has specialist teachers who will train you in the two arts disciplines of Music and Drama developing your skills and making you a fully rounded performer.
The course combines both practical assignments and the study of a variety of performing arts disciplines. You will be encouraged to learn a range of performance skills and techniques and you will be involved in all aspects of production, from backstage to
front of house. Over the two year course, the topics studied include:
- Drama and singing workshops
- Performance workshop
- Rehearsing for a performance
- Performing to an audience
Specialist units may include:
- Musical Theatre Performance
- Movement in Performance
- The Healthy Performer
You will be assessed through completing assignments for each unit.
C grade in GCSE Drama and/or Music or a demonstrable interest in and commitment to Performing Arts.
Communication is a key part of what makes Performing Arts a success. Therefore, involvement in the other performing arts will improve and develop your interpersonal skills and will compliment any courses studied alongside it. The course is a recognised qualification for progression to degree courses in Drama and Theatre, Performing Arts, Communications and Humanities. In addition it will help you in pursuing career opportunities in the performing arts, creative media, arts management and administration across the entertainment industry.
