Physical Education at St Bonaventure's RC School

Course description

The PE option provides a unique opportunity for pupils with an interest in sport to study the theoretical aspects of sporting performance, the local and national administration of sport and the influence of sport in society. Pupils will study the biological aspects of sport. This focuses upon topics such as: the circulatory system, nutrition, diet and drugs in sport. Sports Psychology is also focused upon. Pupils looking to study the course should be highly skilled in at least two of the sports above, it is recommended that potential candidates should be of level 6 or higher by Year 9 and be a borough or county representative in at least one the sports in order to cope with the practical element of the course. Pupils interested in a number of sports as well as physiological aspects ? involving the body and issues regarding sport in society. Pupils looking to study sport as part of their further / post 16 education or sport as a career for example leisure management.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Sport and Physical Education or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, y
