Creative Digital Media Production Level 2 BTEC First Diploma at College of North West London (FE)

Course description

Media completely surrounds us and influences the way we think, act and communicate with one another. This course introduces you a wide variety of communication tools such as television, sound, advertising, print and the very popular social media. You will be learning and developing a wide range of skills that can be transferable to a wide range of job roles.

Course content

This course will enable you to gain a Level 2 qualification that will be equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade C or above. You will also produce a portfolio which will allow you to progress to the next level, usually a Level 3 Diploma. It is an intensive and exciting course covering a range of areas. You will have projects in video production, graphics, advertising and audio. You will have to evaluate the products you make and assess the products made by professional media practitioners. The practical work is supported by an introduction to contextual and theoretical studies, which will underpin your understanding of the Creative Media industry. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your research, written & communication skills. You will also study Functional Skills in English and ICT or maths; this will help you to strengthen your communication skills.

Entry requirements

You will need English and Maths skills at Level 1. If you do not have evidence of your English and Maths levels you will be given an online English and Maths assessment after you submit your application. You may also be asked to complete a piece of free writing or a vocational assessment. If you meet the entry requirements you will then be offered an interview with a tutor to discuss the course

Assessment

You will be continuously assessed and you will be awarded Pass, Merit or Distinction grades according to the quality of work produced for each assignment.
