BTEC National Subsidiary Award - Hospitality at King Alfred's Academy

Course description

A Two-year course in King Alfred's Sixth Form leads to a BTEC National Subsidiary Award (level 3).This qualification is equivalent to one A level

To gain a full award you will need to complete 7 units, which relate to the chosen vocational area. The course will enable students to develop their ICT, Communication and Numeracy skills. The main units for Hospitality include:

  • Unit 1 The Hospitality Industry (10 credits)
  • Unit 2 Principles of Supervising Customer Service Performance in Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism (2 credits)
  • Unit 3 Providing Customer Service in Hospitality (8 credits)
  • Unit 6 Food and Drinks Service (10 credits)

  • Entry requirements

    Typically students need at the very least 5 or more GCSE’s at grade C or above to be successful on an Advanced Course. There are more than 30 subjects to choose from though some may require more than a C grade.

    Students wishing to study this subject will need to achieve a minimum of 5 A*-C GCSE qualifications including BTEC’s.Students do not need to have a specific career ambition in this vocational area but it helps to have at least an interest.
