Economics A level Edexcel at Wimbledon College
The course aims to give an insight into key issues in the news affecting everyday life. Our goal is to allow you to understand the forces driving things like the price of oil, exchange rates and the level of unemployment in an economy. The subject is split into two main sections; microeconomics and macroeconomics. Whereas macro looks at the big issues affecting the economy as a whole, micro looks at a smaller scale.
For Level 3 courses - five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C, with at least 3 B grades entry requirement for each course – this is usually a grade B or better in each subject to be taken at Advanced Level (or BTEC3) or relevant cognate subjects as set out in the published entry requirements (see page 12) for Level 2 courses - five or more GCSEs at A*-D
In the first year of the course you will study two units (Competitive Markets and Managing the Economy). In year 13 you will study two further units (Business Economics and The Global Economy).
