Course description

Sales & Telesales workforce is one of the largest professional groups in the UK – Employing just over 2 million people.  

Selling is a crucial part of commercial success, it is the lifeblood of most organisations and the development of sales skills is very important – Sales Apprenticeships are high quality, work based training programmes for employers who want to develop the skills of their sales staff.  

Good salesmanship involves helping customers to buy a product or service to meet their needs. As a job, this involves meeting people, building relationships, addressing challenges, being creative in offering solutions and thinking independently. Businesses realise the importance of salespeople – money tends to be good, most salespeople earn commission including incentives such as bonuses and holidays.  

As an Apprentice you could find yourself working in a range of sectors. You may be, for example, a sales advisor in a retail store environment, or a membership advisor in a health and fitness club.  

 

The Sales Apprenticeship will equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience to undertake sales roles in a range of business settings.

Entry requirements

To start this programme, you should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent

Assessment

Assessment methods are selected to suit learner. They are usually determined by the job role, the area being covered and the learners preferred learning style. Some of the most used methods which may be covered throughout the qualification include: Coaching – either one to one or in a group, Observations in the work place, Professional Discussion between the learner and their tutor about a specific event or part of the job, On-line examinations, Assignments and Knowledge questions.

Other assessment methods that may be used include gathering product evidence to support observations and discussions, getting witness statements from colleagues or a personal statement from the learner about a particular event or situation.  Assessments may also be carried out using One File.

Financial information

Under current legislation all people serving an Apprenticeship must be of employed status.

In financial terms it means they should be paid the minimum rate of pay for Apprentices and contractually employed on a full-time basis.

All training within in the Apprenticeship framework is paid for by Rochdale Training using government funding.
