AQA Physics A Level at Chesterfield High School

Course description

The -A- level Physics course is an exciting course, which can follow on from the AQA Science course studied in Key Stage 4. It aims to sustain and develop your enjoyment and interest in Physics and show the importance of Physics as a human endeavour which interacts with social, philosophical, economic and industrial matters. The Advanced level examination is in two parts: Advanced Subsidiary (AS) which is 50% of the total award and a second examination called A2 which is another 50% of the total award. Each module is assessed through an associated assessment unit, a 1 hour 15 minute structured examination question at AS and a 1 hour 45 minute examination at A2. The results from all units are combined to give the final A Level grade at the end of the course. End of module tests are in June, whilst the practical components are tested throughout the year.
